The 33rd China International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology, also known as EP Shanghai 2026, will be held from 3–5 December 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Marking the exhibition’s 40th anniversary milestone, the 2026 edition will once again serve as a large-scale brand exhibition for the power industry.
With a core focus on building new power systems and empowering the global energy transition, EP Shanghai 2026 will make virtual power plants one of its key highlighted sectors. Through a dedicated display area and high-level exchange platform, the exhibition aims to become a major professional event in China’s virtual power plant sector in 2026 — covering technology showcases, resource matchmaking and trend discussions. It will provide the industry with full-chain solutions and global cooperation opportunities. 86,000 sqm, 7 Halls and 2,200+ Exhibitors: Building a Full Ecosystem for Virtual Power Plants EP Shanghai 2026 will cover 86,000 square meters of exhibition space across 7 halls and 5 core themed zones. The show is expected to bring together 2,200+ renowned domestic and international exhibitors from the power and energy sectors, and attract 85,000 professional visitors. As one of the key highlights of this year’s exhibition, the Virtual Power Plant sector will be closely integrated with the Energy Digitalization, New Energy Storage and Power Automation zones. Together, they will form a comprehensive ecosystem display, accurately responding to the industry’s demand for virtual power plant technologies, products and real-world project implementation. Dedicated Virtual Power Plant Zone to Showcase Full-chain Technologies and Applications As a major new highlight of the 2026 edition, EP Shanghai will list Virtual Power Plants and Microgrids as a key focus area. A dedicated “Energy Convergence” Virtual Power Plant Display Area will be set up at the venue, working in synergy with the N3 Hall New Energy and Energy Storage Zone, N4 Hall New Energy, Energy Storage and Hydrogen Energy Zone, and the Energy Digitalization Zone. ![]() The area will bring together core technologies, products and solutions across the entire virtual power plant industry chain. Key exhibits will include: • Virtual power plant aggregation and control platforms • Demand-side response terminals • Distributed energy dispatching systems • Intelligent microgrid control equipment • Virtual power plant metering and monitoring devices • Coordinated systems integrating energy storage and virtual power plants The exhibition will also showcase practical virtual power plant applications in industrial, commercial, park-based and grid-side scenarios. Topics will include virtual power plant operating models under source-grid-load-storage integration, coordinated solutions for virtual power plants and renewable energy consumption, and overseas virtual power plant project practices. Together, these displays will create a one-stop window for China’s virtual power plant technologies and application achievements. Cross-zone Integration: "Virtual Power Plant + Storage + Digitalization + Automation + Transmission and Distribution" In 2026, EP Shanghai will be fully upgraded to 7 exhibition halls. The virtual power plant sector will not be presented as a standalone display; instead, it will be deeply connected with five core themed zones to create a full ecosystem covering: ![]() Virtual Power Plants + Energy Storage + Energy Digitalization + Power Automation + Power Transmission and Distribution This integrated exhibition model will include: • Connection with the New Energy Storage Zone Showcasing coordinated dispatching solutions for energy storage systems and virtual power plants. • Connection with the Energy Digitalization Zone Presenting big data analytics, intelligent dispatching and cloud-based control technologies for virtual power plants. • Connection with the Power Automation Zone Displaying terminal monitoring, intelligent control and relay protection equipment used in virtual power plant operations. • Connection with the One-stop Power Transmission and Distribution Zone Exploring efficient grid connection and coordinated operation models between virtual power plants and power grids. Through this exhibition-wide integration, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the technology architecture, application scenarios and industrial ecosystem of virtual power plants. The show will enable a full-chain view — from core equipment to integrated solutions, and from technology R&D to real project implementation. ![]() Gathering in Shanghai to Explore New Opportunities in Virtual Power Plants From 3–5 December 2026, EP Shanghai 2026 will welcome enterprises, professional buyers and technical experts from the global virtual power plant, electric power and energy sectors to the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Together, participants will explore new opportunities in the development of the virtual power plant industry, build the core demand-side flexibility ecosystem for new power systems, and inject strong momentum into the global green energy transition.
