Power grid equipment forms the "skeleton" and "circulatory system" of the electric power system. From ultra-high-voltage backbone networks to flexible distribution grids, and from conventional transformers and switchgear to intelligent primary-secondary integrated equipment, every technological upgrade has a profound impact on the progress of the energy transition.
From 3–5 December 2026, the 33rd China International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology, also known as EP Shanghai 2026, will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Organized by the China Electricity Council and co-organized by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the exhibition will focus on "Building New Power Systems and Empowering the Global Energy Transition." As one of the show’s most established and extensive sectors, the One-stop Power Transmission and Distribution Zone will be fully upgraded in 2026. It will present the innovation power of the entire grid equipment industry chain — from high voltage to medium and low voltage, from primary equipment to primary-secondary integration, and from traditional equipment to intelligent solutions. ![]() Why Should Anyone Following Grid Equipment Attend EP Shanghai 2026? Three Key Reasons 1. Full-chain Showcase: Covering the "All-star Line-up" of Grid Equipment As a leading international brand exhibition for China’s electric power industry, EP Shanghai’s One-stop Power Transmission and Distribution sector is widely regarded as an industry barometer. In 2026, the sector will bring together 2,200+ leading Chinese and international exhibitors and brands, with key exhibits including: • Core primary equipment Transformers, including power transformers, distribution transformers and amorphous alloy transformers; switchgear such as gas-insulated switchgear, medium- and low-voltage switch cabinets and circuit breakers; wires and cables including power cables, specialty cables and optical fiber composite cables; as well as insulators, capacitors and instrument transformers. • Primary-secondary integration and intelligence Relay protection devices, automation monitoring systems, intelligent measurement and control terminals, and online monitoring equipment, highlighting the deep integration of primary and secondary equipment and enabling grids to be observable, measurable and controllable. • Ultra-high voltage and flexible transmission Equipment related to ultra-high-voltage AC/DC transmission, flexible DC converter valves, unified power flow controllers and other advanced technologies that support long-distance power transmission from large-scale renewable energy bases. • Innovative distribution network equipment Solutions for smart and active distribution networks, including intelligent pole-mounted distribution switches, fault indicators, distribution automation terminals and integrated primary-secondary complete equipment. ![]() 2. Scenario-driven Demand: Addressing Industrial Microgrids and Zero-carbon Parks The value of grid equipment lies in its real-world application. As industrial green microgrids, zero-carbon parks and data centers develop rapidly, demand is rising for high-quality, intelligent and highly reliable grid equipment. EP Shanghai 2026 will connect closely with these application scenarios. • Targeted professional visitors The exhibition is expected to attract 85,000+ trade visitors, including technical engineers, procurement decision-makers and project developers from sectors such as buildings, rail transit, petrochemicals, municipal engineering, zero-carbon parks, green factories and data centers. • Scenario-based solution displays Dedicated application-case areas will present smart microgrid solutions, integrated smart factory solutions, power solutions for the petrochemical industry, and energy-efficiency management solutions for green factories and zero-carbon parks. This will help equipment suppliers connect directly with end-user needs. • Cross-sector opportunities through concurrent events Co-located areas and events covering energy storage, data centers and hydrogen energy will bring together key-load users and flexible-resource buyers from microgrids, data centers and related sectors, opening new cross-industry cooperation channels for grid equipment companies. 3. Exchange of Ideas: 30+ Forums to Track Technical Standards and Market Trends During the exhibition, more than 30 high-level forums, product launches and technical seminars are expected to be held. Around grid equipment, discussions will focus on: • Policies and standards Interpreting new requirements for grid equipment under the development of new power systems, while exploring standards for primary-secondary integration, smart transformer energy efficiency, and environmentally friendly gas-insulated equipment. • Technology frontiers Topics will include natural ester transformers, high-overload-capacity distribution transformers, solid-state transformers, environmentally friendly switchgear, and DC power distribution and utilization equipment. • Overseas market opportunities Leveraging EP Shanghai’s international platform, the exhibition will facilitate matchmaking between overseas power companies, EPC contractors and Chinese equipment suppliers, while analyzing grid upgrade demand and market access requirements in emerging markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. ![]() More Than Grid Equipment: Five Sectors Present the Full New Power System Ecosystem While strengthening its grid equipment foundation, EP Shanghai 2026 will present the wider ecosystem of new power systems through five major sectors: • Energy digitalization Focusing on the application of cloud computing, big data, IoT, mobile internet, artificial intelligence and blockchain in grid dispatching, operation and maintenance, and power trading. • New energy storage and hydrogen energy Bringing together "source-storage" resources and showcasing electrochemical energy storage, hydrogen energy and fuel cells. • Power automation and intelligent manufacturing Highlighting the intelligent upgrading of equipment, including smart inspection, robotics and intelligent manufacturing lines. • Virtual power plants and microgrids Exploring new system models and analyzing coordinated control across source, grid, load and storage. • One-stop power transmission and distribution Presenting the full grid equipment chain from core infrastructure to advanced intelligent solutions. A New Starting Point for the 40th Anniversary: Building the Future of Grid Equipment Together From witnessing the early development of China’s power industry in 1986 to focusing on new power systems in 2026, the 40-year journey of EP Shanghai mirrors the rise of China’s grid equipment technologies and manufacturing capabilities — from catching up to going global. At this new milestone, EP Shanghai sincerely invites power professionals from around the world to gather at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from 3–5 December 2026. Visitors and exhibitors will be able to experience the innovation pulse of grid equipment in real application scenarios, explore the vast potential of the energy transition, and contribute fresh momentum to the global green transformation of energy and power.
