EXOTHERMIC WELDING POWDER
Exothermic welding powder is the core consumable in the exothermic (thermite) welding process for permanent grounding connections. Ignited inside a graphite mold, it triggers an aluminothermic reaction that produces molten copper at about 2500℃, fusing conductors into a single homogeneous joint at the molecular level. Available in charge sizes from 15g to 300g to suit different conductors and connection types, the powder produces joints whose current-carrying capacity equals or exceeds that of the conductors themselves. The connection will not loosen or corrode, needs no maintenance over its service life, and withstands repeated fault currents and mechanical shock. It is ideal for joining grounding grids, down conductors, copper-bonded steel and copper conductors in substations, solar farms, rail, and telecom infrastructure. COPPER-BONDED STEEL
Copper-bonded (copper-clad) steel combines a low-carbon steel core with a layer of high-purity copper that is electroplated and molecularly bonded to the surface, uniting the mechanical strength of steel with the conductivity and corrosion resistance of copper. The copper layer is dense and uniform, will not peel or crack, and is typically 0.25mm or thicker, giving a service life of 40 years or more at a far better cost than solid copper. It is mainly produced as copper-bonded steel earth rods, ground rods, and stranded grounding conductors, and complies with IEC, UL and IEEE standards. With its long life and reliable performance in aggressive soils, copper-bonded steel is the preferred material for permanent grounding in substations, solar/PV farms, rail and metro, petrochemical and other critical infrastructure. ZINC-CLAD STEEL
Zinc-clad steel uses a steel core continuously coated with a thick layer of metallic zinc that is far heavier than ordinary hot-dip galvanizing, providing long-lasting sacrificial-anode corrosion protection. Its corrosion resistance is clearly superior to standard galvanized material, while its cost stays well below copper-bonded steel, making it an economical choice for grounding projects in soils of moderate corrosivity and for budget-sensitive applications. The zinc layer bonds firmly to the steel core and resists flaking. Commonly produced as zinc-clad steel earth rods, flat tapes, and round wire, it offers a balanced combination of economy and service life as a standard-tier grounding solution. Zinc-clad steel is widely used in power, construction, telecom and similar fields.
