A 10 kV prefabricated pad-mounted substation (commonly referred to as a "box-type substation") is a complete distribution unit that integrates 10 kV high-voltage switchgear, transformers, 0.4 kV low-voltage switchgear, metering equipment, and reactive power compensation devices into a single compact assembly. It is designed, manufactured, installed, and internally wired at the factory. The key term here is "prefabricated," meaning all components are fully assembled and tested before leaving the factory. Upon arrival on site, only tasks such as terminating high-voltage cable terminations, connecting to the power supply, and performing basic foundation installation remain, enabling rapid commissioning and operation.

The KYN28A‑12 indoor high‑voltage switchgear is an electrical apparatus designed to perform switching, control, and protection functions in power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy conversion and consumption within power systems, operating at a voltage level of 12 kV.
