Partial discharge faults are a common type of failure in GIL and GIS equipment. To address this, it is necessary to deploy online partial‑discharge monitoring IEDs to perform real‑time, continuous monitoring of partial‑discharge signals in GIL and GIS systems. The acquired data must then be analyzed, processed, and comprehensively evaluated to generate an up‑to‑date assessment report on the equipment's insulation condition. Based on these monitoring results, maintenance schedules can be planned accordingly, thereby preventing major grid incidents caused by equipment failures and ensuring the system's reliable operation at the lowest possible maintenance cost.
