Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is of great importance in the electrical industry, primarily due to its excellent electrical insulating properties and arc-quenching capabilities. Its electrical strength is 2.5 times that of nitrogen under the same pressure, its breakdown voltage is 2.5 times that of air, and its arc-quenching ability is about 100 times that of air. These characteristics make sulfur hexafluoride widely used in high-voltage circuit breakers, high-voltage transformers, gas-insulated combined capacitors, high-voltage transmission lines, and transformers. Additionally, it is also used as an etching agent in the microelectronics field, for example, in the manufacturing of computer chips and LCD screens.

DISCONNECTOR SWITCH

The disconnector switches have been designed for overhead distribution networks od Max voltage 36kV.They make it possible to isolate the part of the network downstream of the permanent fault,and to ensure the maintenance interventions in perfect safety.
In this aircraft,the classic pantograph of overhead switches was replaced by a copper contact knife.Its "U" profile gives it a very high elasticity to guarantee a perfect electrical contact,both on the"rupture" side(fixed contacts) and on the"articulation" side.The movement of the contact knife is ensured by tilting the moveable insulator.
