EP Shanghai 2024 Opens Grandly -
A Record-Breaking Event to Build a New Ecosystem for Power, Grid, Load, and Storage

The 31st China International Power Equipment and Technology Exhibition (EP Shanghai 2024) and the Shanghai International Energy Storage Technology Application Exhibition will take place from December 5 to 7 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This year's exhibition has reached a record size of 72,000 square meters, featuring over 1,800 exhibitors from around the world and occupying six exhibition halls.

Hosted by the China Electricity Council and State Grid Corporation of China, and organized by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the 31st China International Electric Power Equipment and Technology Exhibition (EP Shanghai 2024) and the Shanghai International Energy Storage Technology and Application Exhibition (ES Shanghai 2024), along with the CDCE2024 International Data Center and Cloud Computing Industry Exhibition, will be held from December 5 to 7 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

This year’s event reaches a historic scale of 72,000 square meters, spread across six halls, with over 1,800 exhibitors and brands from around the globe. The main forum, themed “Digital Energy Empowering New Productivity”, will showcase innovations, industry transformation, and collaboration across the power sector, paving the way for a new ecosystem of power, grid, load, and storage. The event highlights opportunities for rapid growth in the new energy system era.

An Opening Ceremony Packed with Industry Leaders and Global Visionaries
The opening ceremony of EP Shanghai 2024 took place in the morning of December 5, hosted by Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council. Xin Baoan, President of the China Electricity Council and Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, delivered the opening speech. The event was attended by key government officials, industry leaders, and global business representatives.

Distinguished guests included senior officials from the State Grid Corporation, and leading enterprises such as CHN Energy Investment Group, State Power Investment Corporation Limited, Guangdong Power Grid Limited, State Grid East China Power Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Corporation and CNOOC. The opening ceremony brought together global elites in the power sector to discuss innovation and development in the industry.

Thought Leaders Unite for 30+ Forums on Electric Power & Energy’s Future
EP Shanghai 2024 is hosting over 30 forums and seminars, gathering experts, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss trends and opportunities in the power sector.

The first day featured the “Digital Intelligence Empowering New Power Systems Forum”, co-hosted by the China Electricity Council and State Grid Corporation. Key topics such as industrial internet, digital transformation, new power systems, and next-gen SPN transmission technology were covered by leaders from Huawei, State Grid, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Other highlights on opening day included:

• PEDF (Solar photovoltaic, Energy storage, Direct current and Flexibility) Forum
• New Power Systems and Power Quality Technology Forum

The second and third days will feature additional forums, including discussions on green energy, rail transit power supply, and integrated low-carbon industrial parks. Live broadcasts and interactive sessions ensure that attendees can stay informed about key advancements and industry trends.

A Magnet for Global Buyers: 200+ Delegations from Across the World
Over three decades, EP Shanghai has witnessed the transformation of China’s power industry from importing technology to exporting innovations. As global energy transitions accelerate, the platform has become a key hub for showcasing China’s advancements internationally.

The first day of the event saw long lines of professional visitors from across China and abroad. Delegations from Brazil, India, Vietnam, Korea, Turkey, and Russia joined Chinese industry giants to explore cutting-edge technologies and partnership opportunities.

More than 200 buyer groups, including the Shanghai Electric Power Industry Association, Shandong Province Electricity Association, Jiangsu Society for Electrical Engineering, Hunan Province Electric Power Engineering Enterprise Association and Shanghai Electric Power Company Ltd. also organized visits, solidifying the expo’s position as a global collaboration platform.
