According to the "International Energy Outlook 2007" by the International Energy Agency, China's power consumption will double up to 8472 TWh and its power generation capacity will reach 1775GW by 2030. From 2005 to 2015, China's average annual power consumption is predicted to be growing at a rate of 7.8%. By 2010, it is expected that China will replace US as the world's largest energy consumption country.

Organized by China Electricity Council, The 12th International Exhibition on Electric Power Equipment and Technology and The 5th International Exhibition on Electrical Engineering, Electrical Equipment and Contractors' Supplies (namely as EP China / Electrical China 2008) will take place from November 12 - 14, 2008 at the China International Exhibition Center, PR China. Highlight - ECEP China 2008In view of the accelerating concern in the energy industry towards environmental protection, and the policies on energy conservation and emission control pursued by the Chinese government, the organizer will concurrently hold a new event namely International Exhibition on Energy Conservation, Environmental Power and Desulphurization and Denitrification (ECEP China 2008). Exhibitors will take this opportunity to present their latest techniques in this sector. For instance, apart from covering a full range from thermal power equipment, hydraulic power equipment, nuclear power equipment, renewable sources, Hitachi will introduce its SCR system for environmental protection. Formosa will introduce the incorporation of the Clean Coal Firing technology in pulverized coal firing boilers, and Sorbent Technologies Corporation, a full-service mercury emission reduction provider for coal-fired power plants.
Furthermore, it is the first time of EP China to gather the participation of 16 major power corps in China, including State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, Huaneng, Datang, Huadian, Guodian, China Power Investment, Three Gorges Project, Guangdong Nuclear, etc. to introduce their achievements in energy conservation and energy efficiency in the fairgound.
Attention-grabbing ActivitiesChina Electricity Council will take the lead in organizing China Power Business Convention alongside EP China 2008. The Convention will comprise New Projects Briefing, Procurement Discussion and Business Matching in the energy industries, serving a platform to line up leading power group and power grid corporations, governmental representatives, senior management and specialists of the industries with global suppliers.
Symposia on Power Transmission & Distribution and Environmental Protection Technology will be staged to facilitate in-depth interactions among industrial players. Siemens Ltd. China, Schneider Electric, AREVA T & D CHINA will present topics on power T&D. Other hot topics include 'Power Plant Performance and Emission Management and Optimization' by GE Energy, 'Introduction to Advanced Power Plant Mercury Emission Control Technologies' by Albemarle Corporation's Sorbent Technologies, 'Stability, Security, Economy: SCR and catalyst selection influence to boiler operation' by Argillon GmbH, and 'Clean Coal Power Generation Technology' by Formosa.
EP China, founded in 1986, is organized by China Electricity Council and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., held rotationally in Beijing and Shanghai in alternate years. It is the only power exhibition endorsed by UFI Approved Event in China, gaining full support from the major power group corporations and power grid corporations in China.
